ABOUT CSIR-NISCAIR :
CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication And Information Resources (CSIR-NISCAIR) is devoted to
science communication and dissemination and S&T information. Broadly the core activity of CSIR-NISCAIR is
to collect/ store, publish and disseminate S&T information which benefits different segments of society. The
institute offers wide range of information services. The institute has strong Human Resource Development
Programme for training in library & information science, and science communication. CSIR-NISCAIR also
undertakes projects on turnkey basis for other organizations.

JOB DESCRIPTION :
CSIR-NISCAIR requires four Project Fellows (PF) who will be working on the CSIR 12th Five Year Plan project
entitled "CSIR Knowledge Gateway & Open Source Private Cloud Infrastructure (KNOWGATE)". Job
requirement is as given in the following table:

Essential Qualification  : MSc in IT/computer science or equivalent degree, with minimum 55% marks and  CSIR National Eligibility Test ( NET) qualified
OR
MCA/BE/BTech in IT/computer science or equivalent degree with minimum 55% marks and CSIR National Eligibility Test ( NET) qualified or having valid GATE score

Job Requirement : To design open source based cloud computing solution/architecture including
infrastructure sizing, deployment and system integration
OR
To design and develop a web portal that will contain federated search for knowledge
resources, interface for cloud computing and interface for multi dimensional analysis.
To provide software solution for data migration from various library management
software to Koha
OR
To design and develop DSS/enterprise portal /data warehouse, data mining
system/business intelligence system and, institutional repository for research,
technology and related data

Desirable : Working knowledge of the following: -
Cloud computing :building blocks of end-to-end private cloud infrastructure-as-aservice, Virtualization, networking, security, Linux
OR
Web Development technologies: PERL/Java/JSP/ PHP, OS: Linux, RDBMS:
MySQL/ PostgreSQL
OR
OLAP and multi dimensional databases, Statistical and data mining tools and
techniques,
Web Development technologies: Java/JSP/ PHP, OS: Linux, RDBMS:
MySQL/PostgresSQL

TENURE : The tenure of PF will initially be 1 year which can be extended for 2nd, 3rd & 4th year as per CSIR rules and
satisfactory performance. The candidates who have already served CSIR-NISCAIR as a Project Assistant /
Project Fellow / JRF / SRF / Research Associate etc. for a period of 5 years or more are not eligible for the
above engagements. The candidates who have served for a period less than 5 years, upon selection, their
tenure will automatically end on completion of five years. The services of Project staff will be co-terminus with
the duration of the Project. There would be no automatic shifting of Project staff from one project to another. The
engagement is purely on temporary basis, which may be extended or curtailed, depending on the duration of
the project and satisfactory performance. The engagement shall not bestow any claim for appointment in
CSIR-NISCAIR/CSIR, temporary or otherwise. It would, therefore, not confer any right/claim, implicit or explicit
for consideration for regularization/absorption.

LEAVE : Project Fellow will be entitled for leave as per rules.

AGE LIMIT : Age limit shall be 28 years as on date of interview, relaxable for statutory groups and women as per rule

MODE OF SELECTION : Candidates must report at the NISCAIR reception desk at 9.00 A.M. (Candidates will not be entertained after
9.30 A.M.). In case number of candidates is large, Selection Committee may decide a higher cut-off percentage
of marks or conduct a written test for short listing the candidates for interview or both.

HOW TO APPLY :  The advertisement, prescribed registration form and application form can be downloaded from CSIR-NISCAIR
website (www.niscair.res.in).

The candidates are requested to register in advance for walk-in-interview by sending duly filled-in
registration form by email to csirknowgate@niscair.res.in.

Duly filled-in application form may be submitted at the time of test/interview. The application form should be
accompanied by attested photograph and attested copies of testimonials/ certificates in support of age,
educational qualifications, experience and caste / tribe etc. mentioned in the application.

Candidates should attach the enclosures in following order:-
1) Masters or higher qualification (certificate and all years mark sheets)
2) Proof of NET qualification/valid GATE score
3) Graduation (certificate and all years mark sheets)
4) 12th (certificate and mark sheet)
5) 10th (certificate and mark sheet)
6) Certificate for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PH for age relaxation
7) Any other relevant documents
The candidates once submitted their applications, will not be allowed to withdraw or make changes in their
applications. The applicant must also bring all original certificates/ testimonials at the time of test/ interview for
verification
